LinkHMS introduces the latest system updates related to managing lab test charges. Now, when a doctor orders a lab test during a patient visit, the system can add the corresponding charges to the visit invoice based on set service rates. This automated lab test billing feature allows you to impose accurate charges for every test performed within your clinic.
How do clinics impose lab test charges in LinkHMS?
Understanding the need to manage lab test charges within the same system, we offer extended functionality specifically for clinics with their laboratory. If you perform lab tests, it becomes possible to add these services under a separate service type and predefine their costs and other details. As a result, adding a lab test as a service makes it billable and can be automatically added to the invoices.
How flexible is the price configuration for lab tests?
From now on, the lab tests performed in your clinic are categorized as a separate type of service in LinkHMS. Like with any other service, the lab test prices are set in the administration module and can be modified by your clinic admin whenever required.
How are lab test charges added to visit invoices?
All lab tests should be listed as services in the administration module to be included in the invoices. The clinic admin can add and update tests performed in your clinic as well as set and change prices for these services.
The admin can add lab tests as services at the Services Management tab so the tests can be added by the doctor from the list to the visits’ invoices as billable services.
Once a doctor requests a lab test during a patient’s visit, LinkHMS offers to make it billable for further payment processing in your clinic. All the required details are pulled automatically and require no additional configuration. The doctor only adds the chosen record, and the system handles the rest. It provides consistent and accurate pricing for all patient visits.
The system instantly adds the corresponding charge to the patient’s visit invoice after the doctor selects the specific test. This extended functionality eliminates manual data entry and reduces errors and administrative workload for receptionists.
Why do clinics need to bill lab test charges in one visit invoice?
With the growing need for unified billing, clinics can greatly benefit from our new functionality of automatically adding lab test charges under a single invoice. It’s always important to make it easier for patients to understand their total costs. Therefore, they can receive a single invoice for all services provided and requested during their visit.
In return, clinics improve administrative processes, reduce billing errors, and organize all related charges within a single appointment. After the visit completion, it takes only a click to generate a ready invoice. Moreover, LinkHMS offers quick and easy access to the patient’s history and all related records for the clinic’s reference at any time.
Can the clinic generate separate invoices for every lab test?
The LinkHMS has brought this extended functionality to combine different charges in one invoice. However, we don’t exclude the functionality of generating separate invoices. There are still many cases when patients might request several invoices. For example, some tests might be paid through insurance, while others are paid directly by the patient. Or they simply want to use a few payment methods like cash and credit cards. It is convenient to have different approaches to billing and combine them in some specific cases.
Can doctors add external lab tests, and how are they billed?
If some tests are requested in the laboratory outside of your clinic, doctors don’t mark the requested tests as billable and manually input additional details on analysis requests. This functionality has been added to request lab tests that can’t be performed in your clinic. Thus, you don’t need to bill such tests, and they are not added to the visit invoice.
